Mid-State Health Center is partnering with MAVEN Project to expand access to specialty medical expertise for patients across its network of clinics. This collaboration will empower Mid-State Health Center’s frontline providers with real-time support and knowledge from a national network of world-class physician volunteers, ensuring all patients have access to high-quality, comprehensive care, when and where they need it.

MAVEN Project, a national 501c3 non-profit, connects providers at more than 600 safety-net clinics nationwide with expert physician volunteers across over 70 specialties—including behavioral health, endocrinology, oncology, pain management, and more. Services include medical consults, mentoring and coaching, and continuing medical education.

By collaborating with MAVEN Project, Mid-State Health Center’s primary care providers will be better equipped to treat patients with complex needs—reducing barriers to care, eliminating long wait times for specialty referrals, and improving continuity of care within the patient’s medical home.

At MAVEN Project, our ultimate goal is ensuring that patients—regardless of income, insurance status, or zip code—receive the high-quality specialty care they need, when they need it. Our collaboration with Mid-State Health Center exemplifies how timely access to expert medical guidance can change lives. Together, we are closing critical gaps in care and helping patients stay healthy in the communities they call home,” said Meredith Schanda, COO and Interim CEO of MAVEN Project

Mid-State Health Center served over 14,000 unique patients last year across central and northern New Hampshire, providing much-needed health care access including a range of medical services, dental care, behavioral health counseling, physical and occupational therapy, imaging, and care management for the entire family. Many volunteers are alumni of some of the premier medical schools and medical institutions in the nation.

“Mid-State is excited to partner with MAVEN Project and their highly skilled providers,” said Dr. David S. Fagan, Medical Director at Mid-State Health Center. “This partnership brings a wealth of experience and expertise across various specialties, enhancing our comprehensive care offerings and further expanding our ability to deliver exceptional care to the community.”

Among health centers affiliated with MAVEN Project, 100% of providers report gaining knowledge from consults that they’ve applied to future patient care. Nearly 75% of cases supported by MAVEN Project have avoided unnecessary external referrals, ensuring patients receive trusted specialty input from within their existing care teams.
